Hello once again today I shall talk about my design process while I make a game. This is my experience as a game designer and it may not be as good advice as a designer who has 10 years gaming experience but it is the basics.

Brainstorming

Think of a idea for a game and don't forget to write it down. List all the mechanics your game needs as well as whatever story it has if it has a story. Think about game juiciness. Is the game fun? What are the small touches that will give personality to my game. Also if you're inexperienced try not to aim big keep in scope and make changes only if you need to.

Prototyping

One you are done with the brainstorming it's time to move on to Prototyping. Start with the basics like camera, lighting and movement then add whatever mechanics you want to make your prototype functional. Add levels, music and design last because it's better to have a functional boring game than a beautiful broken mess. The reason why is so you can see if the core gameplay is fun and if it's not you can make alterations.

Testing

Test your game constantly thru the prototype phase to make sure everything's running smoothly. Fix any bugs and check code to see if it's necessary to the game if not scrap it. Get people to play your game to see what they think and mabie get them to fill out a questionnaire about your game.

Revisit

Look at the criticism you got from your game and improve it. Than make alterations if necessary.

Polish

Now your game is technically done but it can be better so don't forget to add small details to make it fun like camera shake, particle systems, sound effects and give objets wight. These little add ons can make a good game bloody amazing.
