What is a game mechanic that is completely underrated because I can think of several. When you are are a gamer like me who lives and breaths games you have a tendency to take some mechanics for granted so I am making a list of undrafted mechanics and pick one I like to talk about.
game mechanics
Motion controls
real time clock (AKA animal crossing)
The ability to jump
basic character movement
Speaking into a microphone
I will discuss real time clock in Animal Crossing because it's something I don't see in a lot of games. basicly what the mechanic does it reads the time of your console clock and sets up the same time in your game. So when it's 1 o'clock in real life it's 1 o’clock in the game. This is a double edge sword that can limit the creative process by having the time of day out of the game developers control. But it will add a more immersion for the gamer by allowing them to step into their characters shoes. I think we need to come up with more games that have real life time built in but we just need a reason.
