Having games on phones has been around since 1994 but gaming has exploded on to the scene when smartphones had taken its place in the mainstream. with the better tech in smartphones gaming was allowed to become more broad with different genres and better graphics. Mobile gaming is somewhat different from gaming on a PC or console mainly because of its pick up and play style.
With the ease of some amazing games on a device that everyone has its know wonder why there are more gamers now than ever. Mobile games are somewhat similar to retro and indie games due to some of them not having overarching stories because of there pick up and play nature. Some games are just repeatable tasks to reach the goal like Candy Crush, Angry Bird and Plants vs Zombies 2. Mobile games are also different from PC games because of the play time. Some mobile games have timers like candy crush which forces the player to buy more lives or recruit their friends where PC games usually have a desant amount of play time and the gamer can play as much as they want.
Mobile games are usually free to play but have microtransactions for usually a kind of currency that makes the game easier. The microtransactions can be devastating for people who have gaming addictions or children who don’t understand that they are spending their parent's money. All of gaming culture has various groups of people that are addicted to some games but it seems that some of the big mobile games are trying to get there players hooked.
