Hi guys for the last couple of weeks I have been working on simple 2D landscapes that I have made in Photoshop. Right now I have very little experience in using Photoshop but I am really enjoying it and I love to create things that one day will be used in my games.
I am learning how to add depth and style to a 2D landscape and I can do this buy crating three layers witch is the foreground, mid ground & background. In the background things seam transparent and smaller making the objects look like there further away. Objects in the mid ground are detailed with shadows to determine where the light is coming from and to give the object shape. The foreground has objects that are large and vary dark too show that they are right in front of the camera. The playable character stands in-between the foreground and the mid ground because the player needs to be detailed and you have objects overlapping him to show it’s more than just a 2D plain.
